How Scene Magazine Works

Scene Magazine is your Top Entertainment Guide in South Florida — every stage, every night, from Palm Beach to Key West on one page. Here is how a show actually gets onto that page.

Curation, in one sentence

We gather schedules from the people who own them — bands, talent and venues — fill the gaps with automated imports from public websites and social pages, then have a human review every listing before it reaches the front page. Nothing publishes because a robot guessed; it publishes because a person confirmed it.

What happens when a band signs up

  1. Account and Stage created. Signing up as a Band or Talent creates your member account and a "Stage" — your profile page with a cover photo, round logo badge, bio, lineup portraits, song list, videos and social links.
  2. Existing data is claimed, not duplicated. If we already track your act because a venue listed you, your signup inherits that history — past and upcoming shows, venue relationships and photos — instead of starting a second, competing listing. Duplicates get merged or renamed by an editor.
  3. Schedules come in three ways. Enter shows by hand, paste a list and let the importer parse it, or point our scraper at your website, Facebook page or a poster image and let it read the dates for you.
  4. Conflicts are surfaced, not silently merged. When an imported date disagrees with something already on the books — different time, different venue, two shows the same night — we flag it side by side so the correct version wins.
  5. Review, then publish. Once a listing is approved, it flows into the area rails on the homepage, the full schedule, your Stage page and the venue's page — all from the one entry.

What happens when a venue signs up

Venues get an Establishment page with hours, map, website, Instagram, Facebook and ticket links, plus tools to search talent, publish a weekly calendar and keep their own schedule sources scraped automatically. Their calendar and the bands' calendars reconcile against each other, so one confirmed night shows up correctly on both sides.

What happens when a weekend request is submitted

  1. Anyone can submit a gig. The public submission form takes the act, venue, date and time, plus a photo and description — no account required.
  2. It lands in moderation, not on the page. Every submission queues for editorial approval. We match it against the venue list, correct spellings and aliases, and check it does not collide with a show already booked that night.
  3. Weekend slots are first come, first served. Front-page priority spots fill in order, and remaining shows sort by start time so the night reads chronologically.
  4. Approved shows trigger alerts. Once live, a weekend show is eligible for the Friday text and email blasts sent to Show Army subscribers who chose that area and timeframe.
